It is generally being stated that the classes involving mixed ability surely benefits. However, it is often contended that the students get more benefit with the stream-lined education system. Considering all the facts, in my opinion, it is more beneficial to separate the school education. This will make schooling more efficient as stream-lining curriculum will make it easier for teachers to teach and students to understand.
The benefit of mixed ability classes often being argued is that such classes allow the students furnish their talents. However, in the specific class or specialized class with the similar abilities, it will be easy for the teacher to comprehend the concept to the students in the manner they can all understand. However, in the mixed class, it may be the instance that some children may not understand the concept.
This can also be realized with the help of an example, suppose there is a class of mixed students. Some of them have high I.Q. while some others have medium and low I.Q. The students with high I.Q. understands the concept instantly while the students with medium I.Q. required bit more explanation. However, even after more explanation students with low I.Q. cannot understand the concept. In such a situation if the classes would have been streamlined the curriculum could have been defined in another manner with more duration which could have easily understood by the students with low I.Q. Considering the fact that curriculum can be designed such that all can understand in one go. But, that way students with high I.Q. will suffer as they can grasp more than what they are being taught in such a situation.
Therefore, considering all the factors, surely mixed classes can boost the growth and can be beneficial but not more than the streamlined classes approach.
