Autobiography of a Horse Essay
I was born in a stable. My mother loved me greatly. There were a number of horses in the stable. As far as I can recall, none of them was on inimical terms with my mother. At least, none of them hated me.
Almost immediately after my birth, I began to walk. As a young colt, I walked only short distances. At first, I walked only a few meters, and then this distance up to which I walked, began to increase gradually.
Later, I started going to the fields with my mother. When I was weaned away, I began to live on corn, gram, straw, etc. which my mother ate.
I was then sold by my owner to a tonga-driver. I was taken away from my mother. I felt very sad and so did my mother, as her queer neighing was a clear indication of this sadness.
My new master gave me a lot of diets. He yoked me to his tonga. He got my hoofs nailed. I was taken on the roads the whole day. My head and eyes were partly covered with straps.
Once on a rainy day, I slipped along the road and the people who had hired the tonga fell down, though they did not sustain any injury.
My master felt so dismayed with me that he sold me off. A horse-lover bought me since I still looked beautiful. He washed me daily and decorated me and rode me merrily.
As I grew old and became unfit for riding purposes, my masse go, leaving me to my fate. Now, I’m wandering aimlessly. Often I’m hungry, but who cares?
