An Ideal Student Essay in English ( 300 to 350 words )

Ram is an ideal student. He gets up early in the morning and goes out for a walk. He takes light exercise on the bank of the canal or in the garden.

He goes to school regularly and punctually. He attends all the periods. He does not make a noise in the class. He is very attentive to the lectures of the teachers.

He respects all the teachers, including those teachers who do not teach his class. However, whenever he is unable to follow a particular point in any lecture, he requests the teacher concerned boldly but politely to explain the point once again. Thus, he is quite bold, courageous, and candid.

He takes great interest in his studies. He knows that the first and foremost duty of a student is to study. He is a brilliant student and often stands first or second in the class. He pays equal attention to all the subjects.

Ram is also a good player of hockey. He is the captain of the school hockey team. He has the qualities of leadership and the sportsman spirit in him.

He is honest in all his dealings on the playground also. He is ready to accept his defeat from a superior team. He always tries to engage himself and his team in healthy competition rather than jealousy or underhand methods. He does not believe in the policy of “by hook or by crook.”

He helps the weak students in their studies. He participates in co-curricular activities such as debates, seminars, etc. He is a good-orator, singer and painter. He often wins prizes in various fields.

Long Essay on An Ideal Student in 600 to 700 words

Students form an important proportion of any country’s population. The period of life that an individual spends in school and college is very important, for it is the most impressionable period of his life when his character is formed. The aim of every educational institution should be to mold children into ideal students who would grow up to be ideal citizens of the nation. The important question thus, is, “What qualities should an ideal student possess?”

In my opinion, an ideal student should, first of all, learn the value of punctuality. He should reach school at the right time, rather than make excuses for reaching late every now and then.

Next, he should be regular in attending his classes. Taking leave from school on one pretext or the other is a habit that would make him shirk work even as an adult. Regular attendance would also enable him to take interest in what is going on in the school whether it is in the academic sphere or extra-curricular activities.

Again, an ideal student would take an equal interest in studies and in extra-curricular activities. Of course one cannot expect every individual to excel equally in both academics and in sports and other activities such as dramatics. debates and so on. The important thing. however, is to take an interest in all activities that the educational institution has to offer, and then cultivate those activities that one has an aptitude for so that one’s innate talents grow and develop.

Again, an ideal student would respect his teachers and elders. This does not mean that he accepts everything that the teacher teaches; rather he should have the confidence to question the teacher wherever he does not agree and present his own point of view politely, respectfully but firmly. This would help him to be clear in his ideas and develop independence of mind. In this, it is very important that the teacher too encourages students to question and discuss, rather than rigidly stick to his own point of view.

Yet again, another important quality that an ideal student would possess is that of discipline. He should understand that is a time for study and a time for play. “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” is an age-old adage that is true to this day. A student should whole-heartedly concentrate on his studies and when it is time to study and put all his energies into play when it is time for play. He should be able to check his inclination to spend time in other activities when it is time for serious work. He would thus develop his personality in the right direction, and would not take part in lawless activities such as strikes, demonstrations, and other forms of agitations. If he is unhappy about anything, he should have the intelligence and capacity to point out his problems or those of his colleagues to the authority in charge, so that his difficulties can be amicably settled.

An ideal student would, further, be able to make use of his leisure hours in a constructive manner by engaging in some hobby such as reading, music, painting, gardening, or whatever he is interested in, instead of frittering away his time in idleness.

Finally, an ideal student should also be neatly dressed, ever cheerful, and cultivate good friends who not only stand by him in time of need, but each would learn to be better by the other’s influence.

Thus, if a student is able to cultivate these traits of punctuality, regular habits in attendance, study and play, respect for elders, a questioning mind, discipline, constructive hobbies, and good friends, he would certainly be an ideal student with a wholesome development of his personality. However, all these traits can be developed only with the help of the teachers who should set a good example themselves and foster these habits in the young minds and hearts. It is only then that the ideal student of today would be an ideal adult citizen tomorrow and lead the country to progress and prosperity.
