Sample Answer-

Several countries around the world are reporting a higher population of the youth as compared to the elderly. There can be both pros and cons to this situation. I am of the opinion that the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

Youth are the future of any society. Not only are they armed with a thirst for absorbing and learning new things, they can also efficiently multitask. They question the set norms to doing something and find new and exciting ways of achieving their tasks and milestones. Highly ambitious and competitive, the youth is one of the primary reasons for a company’s productivity and success. The youth also have an innate habit and ability to try new things and excel at them, so they are more equipped to adapting in this ever-changing turbulent world. The youth are inherently battling the problems plaguing the world such as hunger, poverty, climate change. Volunteering at different organizations, they are always looking to make a change for the betterment of the world for themselves and for the years to come.

When all is said and done, it is a fact that most of the youth are brash and impatient, taking quick decisions, which sometimes leads to them making incorrect decisions in their lives. The lack of calculative responses and actions can also contribute to the same. Since they are less experienced as compared to the elderly in matters of their personal and professional lives, they may be less equipped to handle the trials and tribulations of everyday life. This may, in turn, lead to them incurring financial losses or estranging relationships.

For instance, youth in schools and colleges often engage in blood donation drives, organizing natural disaster relief camps, cleanliness drives. Teach-for-India is one such example where youngsters from recent high school graduates to 9 to 5 employees dedicate their time to educate the less privileged.

As is evident, the benefits of the majority of the populace constituted of the youth far outweigh the disadvantages. At the same time, the more experienced and elderly should actively support the youth in order for the latter’s experience to be fused with the former’s quest for conquering the possible and impossible.
