I often wonder, how good I would be a mother will I be as good a mother as mine or will I just be an ordinary uninspiring one. My mother was my very first contact after coming into this world. She made me feel very special. As a young girl, I remember, how beautiful my mother was slim, tall, and always with an endearing smile. The fussy eater that I was, dinner time was always loads of fun with my mother modulating her voice to take on different roles from the epics and legends. Whenever there is a situation at home, she is always in command of it. She is extremely supportive of my father in all that he does. They have never quarreled over anything, at least not in front of my brother and me. At times she is harsh with me. She expects me to learn to do all daily chores while there are no such rules for my brother. I argue with her over this gender bias. But my first Scouts and Guide’s camp opened my eyes. Everyone did his or her own chores with a lot of moaning and groaning. But for me, it was too easy and a lot of fun. I even won a certificate for finishing it all fast. That is when I realized the worth of my mother’s daily drill. I also wonder about all those values she hopes to instill in me, indirectly. Isn’t being a mother a great responsibility?
