Delhi has seen many ups and downs. It has been the capital of many kings and emperors. Many historical buildings had been constructed in Delhi by rulers.

The Qutub Minar is an old historical building. It is the highest tower in India. It was completed by Qutubuddin Aibak in the 12th century. It is situated near Mehrauli. It had seven storeys. Now it has 378 steps to climb up five storeys. One can see the view of Delhi from the top storey. The visitors are allowed to climb up only one storey. Thousand of visitors come to see it from far and wide. They praise its height and artistic skill. The foreigners also praise the iron pillar near the Qutub Minar. Its sight attracts the people.

 

Qutub Minar Essay 

The Qutub Minar is one of the earliest Muslim monuments in India. It is a single ribbed tower, built-in five storeys of red stone, decorated with beautifully carved inscriptions and floral bands. It towers just outside the central courtyard of Quwwatul Islam Masjid. It was probably built, to function as a Minar, for the use of muezzin, to call the faithful to prayer. It stands 72.5 m tall with a base diameter of 14.4 metres and an upper diameter of 2.7 metres. Throughout, it is covered with relief work.

The Qutub Minar is believed to have been built to celebrate the victory of Qutubuddin Aibak, in 1192. In front of the imposing structure is an iron pillar. This pillar is dated around the 5th century AD. Its uniqueness lies in not having rusted, ever since. Overall the Qutb Minar is a feast to the eye and a star destination of any visitor to Delhi.
