Summer vacation is the happiest period for a student. We enjoyed our summer vacation at Shimla. We stayed at the Clarke Hotel at the Mall Road. I reserved morning time for studies. After that, we started outings. We visited all the picnic spots in and around Shimla. We returned in the afternoon, took our lunch, and then rest. Again, in the evening, we were out on Mall Road. There was always a great rush of people. The newlyweds roamed about on the Mall Road in a very carefree manner. We used to sit on the benches at the Ridge for some time. Usually, we had coffee in the evening. On our return to the hotel at night, we used to stand at the gate of the hotel. The lights in every house, situated at different heights, presented a fascinating scene. It was indeed a very happy experience for me.

Every summer I and my parents usually go on a vacation to various places of tourist attractions. But this year, because my father did not get leave from the office, going out of the station was ruled out. But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It helped me to do and learn many things which I could not have done otherwise do.
I joined a club near my home to learn swimming. It took two hours of my time every day. Swimming not only provides healthy recreation but is also beneficial to the whole body. And by the time my school ‘re-opened I was able to shed some extra weight. I also used the vacations to catch up with my hobby, reading. I had not read for many months because of my preoccupation with the examinations. I spent a few hours every day reading the various magazine and journals I had missed out on. I also joined a library and borrowed the books which I needed.
The vacation provides me with a chance to learn about computer languages like coding. A short course at a local institute helped me a lot to gain knowledge. The vacation came to an end in no time. But I am happy that it was spent usefully.
