1. Munshi Premchand was born on 31 July 1880 in Banaras.

2. His original name was Dhanpat Rai.

3. He joined as a school teacher in 1899; later, then he became Deputy Inspector of Schools.

4. In 1905, he remarried a child widow, Shivani Devi.

5. Munshi Premchand started his literary career as an Urdu short story writer and novelist.

6. Initially, he wrote under the pseudonym ‘Nawab’

7. In 1901, his first story, Sansar Ke Sabse Anmol Ratna was published.

8. In 1909, the British Government imposed a ban on Soz-e-Watan, a collection of short stories.
