Sample Answer-

A painting is an artist’s extravagant way of expressing his feelings and emotions. Over the centuries, art has revolutionized the world and has given us exquisite artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Michelangelo, etc.

The Italian Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci has painted Mona Lisa, which is termed as “the best known, the most visited, the most written about and the most parodied work of art in the world”

I saw this work of art 10 years ago while I was studying Renaissance in literature. It is said that Mona Lisa bears a strong resemblance to Virgin Mary, which was according to Renaissance depictions and was seen as an ideal of womanhood.

I saw the picture of this marvellous painting in a magazine which consisted of paintings from all the famous painters. The magazine also consisted of factual information regarding Mona Lisa and Leonardo da Vinci.

The painting is of a woman in her mid 20’s-30’s sitting on a chair. The background of the painting depicted nature i.e. river, valley, trees, etc. Her unique smile is the centre of attention and is enigmatic. It appears as though the woman is trying to express herself through her eyes.

The painting expresses simplicity in a unique way. Many famous personalities have praised the picture for its realism but the Victorian era writers regarded Mona Lisa as imbued with a sense of mystery and romance. The painting, though simple, has its own uniqueness and because of this microcosmic feature, it has gained a lot of appraisals and popularity.
