Model Answer-

Many people say that Governments should spend more money or allocate more funds on railways than roads. I couldn’t possibly agree more with this statement. Trains are a more environmental-friendly mode of travel than the roadways, and they are definitely faster as well. This is a clear indication of the fact that if people wish to reach their destinations quicker and in a more timely fashion, Governments should definitely work on improving the infrastructure and maintenance of the railway system.

Investing in making the railways modern and advanced can certainly help in the progress of a nation. Traveling by trains is faster and more convenient because there is no scope of traffic or road congestion. What’s more, you’re helping to save to planet from unnecessary pollution. This means people will have to spend less time in commuting which will, in turn, aid in the increase in overall productivity.

One example is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to start a bullet train in India covering the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. Even though it is said to be a gift from Japan to India, it is a step in the right direction towards a progressive India. This is an excellent case in point of how railways are being given their due in India.

In short, even though roadways is a vital commuting mode throughout the world, it is not the safest and certainly not the most environmental-friendly or smarter option. Railways are the future, and this is where the maximum efforts and investment of any Government should go. That is not to say that roads should not be built or maintained but it’s all about knowing your priorities. It is indisputable that railways are where our future lies and this is something we should take considerable efforts to ensure a brighter and better developed tomorrow.
